The Architectuer Triennale opens “raw carpentry” workshop

With inspiration from the furniture designer Finn Ahlgren and his idea of ”raw carpentry”, Färgfabriken has opened a creative workshop space inside the large exhibition hall. Here, visitors are offered to explore creativity in several different ways and to find new uses for waste materials. Through raw carpentry – the idea that everyone should be able to build with simple tools and without aesthetic requirements – we can discover the potential in rejected materials, reevaluate what might be considered ugly and let the unevenness and haphazardness of the material contribute to the unique character of each work.

Educator-led Workshops

Every Saturday within the framework of the Architecture Triennale, until November 23, educator-led workshops are held where the focus is on Finn Ahlgren’s philosophy of accessible and simple carpentry. During these workshops, we build pallets, jumpiing jacks and cardboard models – all created from recycled materials. No prior knowledge is required, just curiosity!

During Färgfabriken’s opening hours, all visitors are also given the opportunity to draw maps and sketches of how Lövholmen can be developed. How should the city of the future look, sound and feel?

The rejected as a resource

In the workshop, in addition to waste material from Färgfabriken’s exhibition production, you will also find material from Open Wood, a meeting place for exploratory and design-driven projects with a focus on wood. The contribution from Open Wood consists of residual and waste material from various projects from furniture manufacturing and the construction industry. You can read more about the origin of the material inside the workshop.
