The Architecture Triennial
The Architecture Triennial was initiated by Färgfabriken in the fall of 2024 as an international platform for architecture. Every three years, it provides space for contemporary issues in architecture, in exhibitions and an extensive program, and serves as a gathering point for meetings and conversations about our contemporary and future living environments.
Architecture as an art form and practice has an important role to play in how we create a sustainable society. The Architecture Triennial therefore aims to be a forum where professionals and the public alike can delve into the possibilities and challenges of architecture, through exhibitions and a broad program of talks, seminars and workshops that encourage reflection, imagination and action.
The Architecture Triennial wants to make architecture accessible and strengthen knowledge, curiosity and agency in issues related to architecture and societal development, by creating bridges between the professions and the public.

Background
Färgfabriken is an culture centre with a rich cultural program, but also an independent foundation that has worked to strengthen and spread contemporary architecture and art since 1995. Interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaborations are important building blocks that have given rise to many large and small projects and exhibitions. Through the Architecture Triennial, Färgfabriken creates a new platform that enables long-term exploration, strengthened partnerships and deeper relationships with the audience.
Färgfabriken’s location, the old industrial area of Lövholmen, is of crucial importance for the Triennial. Today, it is home to a cement factory, schools and a large number of studios for cultural workers. Here are industrial cultural monuments awaiting the area’s transformation into a dense residential area. Here are also toxic remains of old industries, wild rabbits, hardy plants and birches that penetrate stone and cement. The place attracts society’s creatives, outcasts, urban explorers and exploiters like a magnet.
This brings to the forefront many questions that are relevant both here and in many other places around the world: How do we imagine a future new district? How do we take care of old buildings and materials? Which memories and materials should be preserved and in what way? Who do we plan and build for? Who gets to decide about architecture? How do we plan for an uncertain future?
From this fertile ground, the Architecture Triennial emerges.
