20 April 2024
Paola Torres Núñez del Prado´s new performance-work Sonic Fabric of Subversion is presented.
Ground floor
21.00 during Kulturnatt Stockholm
The artist Paola Torres Núñez del Prado is a pioneer in combining digital and tactile elements in art practice. She works tactilely, multidisciplinary and multimedia in textile art, painting, video, sound and digital media. For many years, she has worked with so-called Singing Textiles, where she “transforms” Peruvian textiles into sound waves.
During Kulturnatt Stockholm, her Singing Textiles-work Sonic Fabric of Subversion is premiered. A work that touches similar themes as in the exhibition El Sur, where six Latin American artists depict the devastating consequences of global extraction. Paola Torres Núñez del Prado deals with the topic in a Peruvian context – a country where extractive industries and their impact on the population is said to have played an important part in the latest massive protests that have been taking place.
Paola Torres Núñez del Prado’s performance lasts about 20 minutes. Afterwards, she will talk about her internship and there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
