MYCKET The Broom Closet

31 August 2024 29 September 2024

Installation
Project rooms, Färgfabriken

Participants: Mariana Alves Silva, Katarina Bonnevier and Thérèse Kristiansson

Architect and artist group MYCKET invites us into an installation for rest, recuperation and connection in Färgfabrikens project rooms.

The Broom Closet makes space for rest in midst of ongoing struggle. It is a way to reflect upon the politics of caring for places and relations, and a space to repair and to do this together, both as people in need and as care-givers. To take care – of ourselves, of each other, and our world – is to extend and share our solidarity.

The Broom Closet was first produced for Heaven by MYCKET, a spatial installation (300 sqm) for Norwegian National Museum – Architecture: Coming into Community, Oslo, 2022-23, part of Oslo Architecture Triennale and Queer Culture Year.

About MYCKET

MYCKET collaborations was founded in 2012 by artists, designers and architects Mariana Alves Silva, Dr. Katarina Bonnevier and Thérèse Kristiansson. Based on equity and social sustainability they practice at all scales (art, furniture, performance, architecture, public space, spatial and urban planning) and are informed by the more-than-human, the carnivalesque and queerness.

Recent projects include exhibition design for Vaginal Davis Magnificent Product, Moderna Museet, Stockholm; The Secret Garden, an installation for play and interaction outside ArkDes, Stockholm and Norra Folkparken, a structural plan for a new housing district based on spatial equality policy in Haninge municipality.

This Open Studio is a collaboration within the Architecture Triennale, a new platform for exploration and long-term collaboration between architects, artists and social actors. The Architecture trienniale is initiated by Färgfabriken as a recurring forum for architecture and urban development and a meeting point regarding questions about the built environment and the future.
