Full Speed Ahead at Färgfabriken displays the multifaceted artist Marianne Lindberg De Geer. Over the past 35 years MLDG has shaped, inspired and challenged not only the arts, but also the culture-scene and public debate in Sweden.

MLDG, born in Stockholm 1946, is an acclaimed artist, playwright, theatre director and writer. You find her work represented in some of Sweden’s most esteemed institutions such as Moderna Museet, the National Museum, Wanås sculpture park among many others and she has been exhibited all over the country.

Full Speed Ahead is a retrospective exhibition, presenting an extensive selection of MLDG´s paintings, films, sculptures, collages and audioworks. MLDG´s art can be described as both humorous and rebellious, and her public commitment often sparks debate and controversy. An example is her work Jag tänker på mig själv (I am thinking of myself) – Växjö, which portrays the artist naked in two versions, in an anorectic body and an overweight one – a sculpture that has been the target of vandalism several times. MLDG is also known for the hundreds of collages with the same title, I am thinking of myself, which is an on-going project where the artist places herself in historical situations while simultaneously changing the meaning of the image.
