Guds Söner – Reception – a way to bridge death and to create the conditions for a miracle.
Musical dramatic work
Main hall, Färgfabriken
Participating: Guds söner (Kent Tankred och Leif Elggren)
The only thing we know about our lives is that we will die. We do not know how life will take shape before or how it will take shape after.
This year’s first big exhibition at Färgfabriken is the music-dramatic work RECEPTION by the Sons of God (Guds söner), comprising the artists Leif Elggren and Kent Tankred. Färgfabriken’s big room will hold an installation of 32 speaker boxes covered with iron sheets measuring 2 x 1,3 meters. They vibrate and fill the room with sound, accompanying five image projections. The iron sheets integrate with each other and create a kind of choir of 32 different voices.
During seven nights, within the installation, various guests will contribute to the performance together with the artists.
A common reference point for all the actors in the work RECEPTION is 18th century scientist and mystic Emanuel Swedenborg’s book Heaven and Hell, a work venturing in the most complicated and inexplicable part of human life: the afterlife. Swedenborg’s teachings have given rise to new religious groups and have fascinated people around the world for centuries. He has long been a companion for the Sons of God in their investigations of the miraculous side of life and death.
RECEPTION aims to generate the conditions for a miracle. It is the artists’ attempt to transcend the only thing in life we can really be sure of – death – by constructing a meeting point for both living and dead, for all who are or have been actors in the theatre we call Life On Earth.
