Neringa Forest Architecture – office residency
Architecture and art collective in office residence at Färgfabriken, for development of ideas for the Architecture Triennial 2027
Neringa Forest Architecture (NFA) is a Lithuanian collective that explores the forest as a cultural and political landscape, shaped by human interventions and ecological processes. Founded by Jurga Daubaraitė, Egija Inzule, and Jonas Žukauskas, NFA works interdisciplinary with projects such as the Timber Archive and Library—where timber from the Curonian Spit in Lithuania is transformed into a material archive for artistic research—and the Children’s Forest Pavilion, which was shown at the 2023 Venice Biennale. Their work combines exhibitions, pedagogy, and site-specific installations to highlight the central role of forests as both ecosystems and infrastructure.
One of their most recent projects is Forest Parts (2024–2025) at Arc En Rêve in Bordeaux, where NFA explored forests in France and Lithuania through an interactive playscape. The exhibition included wood samples, shadow plays, and timelines that connected the history of forests with future challenges.
In April 2026, Neringa Forest Architecture was invited to work at Färgfabriken as an artist-in-residence to develop their contribution to the Architecture Triennale 2027. Their work, which focuses on the cultural and ecological dimensions of the forest, fits well with the triennale’s themes of time horizons, terraforming, and sustainable futures. By blending research, art, and pedagogy, NFA contributes to a critical reflection on how architecture and culture can shape a more conscious relationship to the landscape—especially in a Nordic and Baltic context.
