Welcome to the release of STRATA, Research Lab’s publication, accompanied by an exhibition at Smedjan, Färgfabriken, as part of Stockholm Craft Week.
Strata was first presented as an exhibition at Platform Gallery in April and now returns in publication form. It has grown out of Research Lab CRAFT! at Konstfack, where artistic research has been approached as an ongoing practice — where questions are allowed to linger, shift, and settle into layers.
Throughout the day, the publication will be presented through an exhibition, collective readings, and conversations with the participating artists.
About STRATA
STRATA is an artist group consisting of eight former participants of the Research Lab CRAFT! research course at Konstfack. The course constituted a year of shared and individual inquiry into the role of craft in contemporary society, through both theoretical and practical modes of thinking. In spring 2026, the group presented its first joint exhibition, STRATA, at Platform Gallery in Stockholm.
The group consists of eight artists with widely differing practices, materials and approaches. What brings them together is therefore not a shared expression, but a recurring movement between body, material and knowledge. Across their practices, investigations into memory and inheritance, materiality and embodied knowledge, tradition and change intersect and overlap, alongside questions of how experience and knowledge are stored, passed on and transformed.
The group can thus be understood as a shared space of inquiry rather than a unified artistic direction – a field in which different practices meet, rub against one another and at times find unexpected points of connection.
The group consists of Anna Pehrsson, Helena Tuulikki Lundahl, Kristin Winander, Maria Östblom, Matilda Haritz Svenson, Olga Elizabeth Olivares Martinez, Salome Kappelin and Sunna Örlygsdottir.
