Welcome to the fourth edition of a professional development conference series on working with public art. This series offers a new forum for practical knowledge in art and the designed living environment, aiming to strengthen the field while deepening and refining the practices of the involved professions. The conference also serves as a platform for peer-to-peer exchange, where experiences from north to south, from urban centers to rural areas, can be shared and inspire.
This session centers on artistic commissions and processes and will take place over two half-days at Färgfabriken in Stockholm. The program includes lectures, panel discussions, and case studies that highlight how art commissions can be formulated, carried out, and understood from both the client’s and the artist’s perspectives.
The conference is aimed at public officials within the municipal and regional sectors and encourages cross-departmental participation. Contributing speakers include artists, practitioners, public officials, and researchers from different parts of the country.
The conference series is organized by Färgfabriken and ArtPlatform and is based on the Handbook for Municipal Commissioners (Public Art Agency Sweden and Jönköping Municipality, 2024).
The program will be updated here.
