The Lövhomen Archive
– Histories and futures
The industrial district around Färgfabriken is called Lövholmen. It is like a magnet, attracting all kinds of dreams; starting with the optimistic scenarios of the Industrial Revolution going all the way to contemporary artistic explorations of urban space. Today Lövholmen is facing radical changes. The Lövholmen Archive: Histories & Futures is an exhibition that tries to create a living archive: an archive of the past, the present as well as of a multitude of possible futures. We have collected many of the contemporary visions for the area that have been created by artists, architects and students. The exhibition also contains select historic material that shows the reality and dreams of times past. By exploring Lövholmen at the crossroads of time, imagery, people, buildings and activities the archival material becomes a tool to understand the site rather than a collection of nostalgic fragments. The archive continues to grow during the exhibition when we collect the visitors' own stories about the area. The exhibition will be a voice in the continued talks about Lövholmen during the years to come – but it will also be a place to congregate and reflect upon the discourse of urbanism.
The Lövholmen Archive: Histories & Futures is part of Färgfabriken's long term project about Lövholmen.
A program of talks and workshops is connectedd to the exhibition. Since most of the activities will be in Swedish, the full program will only be updated on the Swedish site, here.
