Färgfabriken presents the celebrated dance performance Slipping Through My Fingers by Helena Franzén, November 7th to 9th.

The acclaimed Swedish choregrapher Helena Franzén introduces her playful, energetic and extremely physical dance for the first time at Färgfabriken. Helena Franzén choreographs dance works that recast the familiar and lead the audience to new and uncharted territory, for which she was awarded the Swedish Theatre Critics Association Dance Prize in 2011.

The title Slipping Through My Fingers plays on occasions that literally slip through your fingers - a highly present absence of something that could have been. As in all Franzéns’ works, the choreography is characterized by strong musicality and intense precision. On stage are five dancers, Franzén herself included, and livemusic by and with Jukka Rintamäki and Johan Skugge on lap steel guitar and piano.

”With this work, it seems to me that Franzén has taken her creativeness to a whole new level. What’s new in her choreography is a stimulatingly unpredictable uncertainty, created by a constant shift in balance and unexpected movement combinations. Yet, Franzén’s sense of form is a strong as ever, giving the choreography enough stability to function as a sounding board for any flux in the work.”

Helena Franzén is a key player at the forefront of Swedish contemporary dance. She has an extensive résumé both as a dancer and choreographer and has created works for the Göteborg Ballet, Skånes Dansteater, Norrdans, DDT Company, Copenhagen and the Royal Opera in Copenhagen, among others. She also teaches in Sweden and abroad.
