Ska alla tecken låta? / Should alla characters make a sound?
– First performance of three new compositions
The music ensambe Lipparella asked three composers to each write a piece of music based on a text of their choice, which resulted in the piece Skall alla tecken låta? / Should all characters make a sound?
Lisa Streich (1985, born in Germany, now living on Gotland), chose to start from Inger Christensen's poetry collection Alfabet. Christensen's poetry book from 1981 is a pioneering work in which the author relates to both to the mathematical number formulated by Fibonacci in the 13th century and to the western alphabet. Streich fell for the sixth poem, out of the poetry collection's 14 pieces and 33 poems, and especially for Fikonträdet: The fig tree, which is also the title of her piece.
Per Mårtensson (1967) chose the picture poem, Al Jazeera (1993), by Lars Mikael Raattaama, which mostly consists of lines, points, commas, and characters, that creates an explosion, leaving only fragments of words. In Mårtenssons piece he inserted quotes from various talks and seminars on Raattaamas poem, and based his music piece on the question, "Should all characters make a sound?" which also became the title of this consert, in Swedish: "Skall alla tecken låta?"
Erik Peters (1970) based his piece on a poem by Ingeborg Bachmann, Tema och Variation from the poetry collection Den uppskjutna tiden (1953). The Austrian poet is one of the 20th century's most influential writers. Earlier this year, Utplåna fraserna--föreläsningar, tal och utvalda texter was publisched by Ellerströms and Bachmann's collected poems Vandra, tanke, was publisched by the same publisher in 2014.
