 | | Spatial Works Färgfabriken’s spring exhibition Spatial Works examines differential aspects of installation-art and introduces a new critical and more subtle language to evaluate this work. Featuring work by four internationally acclaimed artists, the exhibition suggests a superseding language regarding spatial works as it identifies their differences.
Contemporary language, with occasional references to the art’s formal
characteristics, is insufficient to communicate this artistic style.
`Installation´ is a mere blurred description of spatial relationships.
The current critical language used to analyze so-called installation art is general enough to be appropriated to any work in any space and have therefore lost their usefulness.
Attempting to discover a new critical language to describe this kind of work, the exhibition gathers artists whose work represents a great variety. Appropriating a terminology of Permutations, Thespian, Temporal and Psychodramatic, the exhibition exemplifies a new critical language for appraising spatiality.
Participating artists: Jason Dodge/Olafur Eliasson/Alicja Kwade/Tris Vonna-Michell
The exhibition, curated by Theodor Ringborg, is a part of his M. A. thesis project in Konstfack’s critical writing and curatorial program WIRE.
